Joyce Carr Stedelbauer – Fireworks and Fireflies – July 13, 2018

Spread the love
Joyce Carr Stedelbauer

Remembering picnics on steamy nights followed by amazing light shows from our Missouri State Fair and the Ferris wheel rides to touch the stars.  On less dazzling nights we would catch fireflies and make jewelry for dancing in the dark.
Remembering fireworks on soft Ontario nights when the babies were crying and we were softly singing love songs.

Remembering celestial splendor from the Aurora Borealis over Canadian skies and the woods glowing with fireflies blinking out their unique Morse code for dating.

Fireworks and fireflies—what splendid decorations for Christmas in July!  Friends invited their far-away family that visit in the summer for Christmas in July.  Parents and three teenagers wore shorts and tees to dance around the artificial Christmas tree decorated with colorful leis.  Christmas music playing, unwrapping gifts, and a turkey dinner in the oven like Grandma makes
and the grand finale fireworks from Busch Gardens.

Memories are made of this.
