My sister came and stayed awhile
Memories flowed with laughter, smiles.
Blowing cobwebs from our minds
Oh, the memories we did find.
Yesteryears mere yesterday
As memories flowed of child’s play.
Kick the can, back yard trapeze,
It all came back in a breeze.
Blowing cobwebs from our minds
Oh, the memories we did find!
Gulping orange juice down in haste
To hide Cod liver’s nasty taste.
Then out the door, down the hill,
Morning memories with us still.
Penny candy, hill top store,
Walks to school and so much more.
Classes out then we did climb
Up the mountain one more time.
Blowing cobwebs from our mind,
Oh, the memories we did find!
Grandma’s kitchen -special treats
At her table, took our seat.
Making trips to the coal shed
Kept buckets filled and fires fed.
Summer garden, winter’s store,
Vegetables, yet so much more.
In Mason jars, hot water bath
They made the summer bounty last.
Blowing cobwebs from our mind,
Oh, the memories we did find!
In the valley far below
When train wheels turn, whistles blow.
Cinders settle everywhere
Carried in the steam filled air.
Wringer washers and clothes lines
Spoke of a much simpler time.
Oh, the memories we did find,
blowing cobwebs from our minds.
When my sister came to visit.
